Question:

Pedal bike tire question?

are street bike tires bigger then mountain bike tires?

Answer:

Most tires for the street are smaller and have smooth tread. You can get 26 X 1.5 street tires or slicks like Kenda Kross tires for you mountain bike. I have a comfort mountain bike that has universal tires on it and one that has Kenda Kross tires. Both work well on the street and bike paths.
Road bike tyres are usually larger in diameter, but mountain bikes generally have wider tyres, giving more contact with the road and greater rolling resistance.
Road bike tire are 700c or the same as a 29er in MTB terms. A mtb is 26 inch, 26er. So yes, bigger than 26 about the same as a 29.
