Question:

physics difficult problem. help anyone?

the coefficient of linear expansion of copper is 17 x 10^-6 K^-1. a sheet of copper has a round hole with a radius of 3.0 cm cut out of it. If the sheet is heated and undergoes a change in temperature of 80K, what is the change in the radius of the hole?a)it decreases by 4.1 mmb)it increases by 4.1 mmc)it decreases by 8.2 mmd)it increases by 8.2 mmthink answer is B but not sure. Someone answered on my other account but it wasnt part of the answer choices above. I dont know if its a question with bad answer choices or not?

Answer:

the answer should be 30mm * 0.0000017 /K* 80K. it should increase by 4.08 microns, not mm.
