So what is heavy metal, speed metal, death metal, etc, referred to as in these days?

Also, can you list some metal groups you think are particularly 'Eavy?

Answer:

There are many genres of metal these days so try experimenting with a few like try anything from HIM to As I Lay Dying and shift to like Norma Jean or Unearth. There's also bands like Underoath or A Skylit Drive, finally you have the kings like Black Sabbath or System Of A Down (who are back wooooo) Just try a whole bunch and enjoy, welcome to the cool side =] jk
Try these bands: Deep Purple Yngwie Malmsteen Black Sabbath Judas Priest Motorhead Megadeth Pantera Anthrax Savatage Slayer
metal have lots of sub genre. which one you like, can you give some more details about what metal band you like.
Morbid Angel (their new one is hilarious in case you want amusing, this is St. Anger undesirable) Carcass Cryptopsy (the unstated king is humorous as hell as well, similar because the album previously it) Carcass post-mortem (the hot one heavily rips) demise Fetus demise (overrated as hell, yet understand) Obituary ehhh.... maximum demise metal/Brutal demise metal is extremely boring ninety% of the time, and why are the album covers i quite don't like demise metal that a lot because it style of feels way more beneficial about posing than Nu metal ever replaced into and that i might want to assert an similar about Black metal, yet Black metal's even worse.
heavy metal has lots of genre, i started out listen to pop and punk rock but i suddenly shift into the metal genre a couple of years ago, depends on what you like, if you like songs that talks about fantasy and epic stories and inspires you listen to power metal, if you like awesome guitar or instruments solo listen to death metal, if you like awesome screaming and growls listen to black metal, if you like folk music or folk instruments listen to folk metal, if you like vikings or pirates listen to viking metal or pirate metal just to name a few
