Question:

tire for my 07 ninja 500?

the tire i have on now says130/70-17m/c 62hcould someone tell me what all that means? I want to get one that is a little wider if i can so whats the widest/bigger i can go on a ninja 500? I see one that says 90/90 how if that different? or 100/80? thanks so much!!!

Answer:

The first number (130) is the width of the tire in millimetres. The second number (70) is the height of the tire expressed as a percentage of the width. So in this case it is 70% of 130 or 91 mm tall. The third number (17) is the rim size in inches. The 62 is the load index of the tire or how much weight it can support when properly inflated. The higher the number the higher the weight support. The last letter (H) is the speed rating. An H-rated tire is good for up to 210km/h or 130 mph. When it comes to motorcycle tires, clearance is often an issue when trying to upsize. Personally I would just stick with the original size.
