Question:

tire plug tire steel belt question?

if a nail/screw struck into a tire, does it break some cords of the steel belt ??will the steel belt separate with 2 or more plugs at the same area??i got 4 plugs on a tire, will it cause steel belt separation?is there any pre warn of steel belt separation?what is the maximum plugs i can put on one tire?what is the safe distance between two plugs?how long is the life of plugs?thank you

Answer:

The engine overheated and fried, then the transmission overheated and fried too. Had you stopped and cooled the engine off and had it towed in for repair, there wouldn't be so much wrong. I'll see you in the salvage yard.
if your for certain it is transmission fluid don't drive it or it will fubar your transmission. it would haft to be your radiator leaking the fluid into your coolant so you will haft to replace your radiator, transmission fluid and transmission fluid filter good luck ! :P
if your radiator is busted internally it will cause this to happen because your transmission fluid is cooled by the radiator. if you look at the radiator you will notice two or four lines on either side of it . two lines only indicate trans cooler only while four lines indicate oil cooler as well.
NEVER PLUG! ALWAYS PATCH! Even if it cost more. Which it will.
Buy yourself a good used tire (or new). You can find them cheap at most tire shops. Neither a plug or a patch should ever be used to repair damage that is located within an inch of either sidewall. The sidewall and shoulder areas of the tire will flex too much when rolling and eventually work any repair loose. The vast majority of plugs will last for the life of the tire.however some plug failures occur because the hole is too large for the plug or is otherwise irregularly shaped. Patches are much more stronger and more effective, however they require the tire to be removed from the wheel, take longer and cost more. On the other hand, this can be a form of overkill for small nail holes that could be plugged. One thing to keep in mind about any repair is that if the tire has been run on while flat for more than a couple hundred yards there is a strong likelyhood that the sidewalls have been damaged. DO NOT repair or put air into a damaged tire.it's highly dangerous. So there you go.patch or plug? My preference is a patch and in Ontario Canada, you cannot have more than 3 repairs on a tire. ( your state or province may differ). As for the steel belt.it may be broken by a nail or bolt peircing the tire and effect the performance of the tire.
