Question:

What part of my brake system do you think needs to be replaced based on these symptoms?

My 99 Saturn SL1 would shake when I would press on the brakes everytime during this entire year up until a few weeks ago, which I know meant that my rotors are bad. Then for a span of about a week, I was driving recklessly a lot, and I went over 100 mph at least 70 different times, mostly on rural freeways. Luckily I never got caught, which is mainly because I was doing it on rural freeways, though I will not do that again. When I would do that, I would constantly brake when going really fast to slow down for traffic that I would be coming up to, and so I was hard on my brakes.Afterwards, I had to press on my brake pedal a lot more in order to stop, and now I have to press almost all the way down on the pedal to stop. However, my car no longer shakes when I brake, and there has never been any squeaking noises. Plus, I haven‘t noticed anything leaking from my car.

Answer:

Hi! Hero, you are a potential hazard to other road users. Preventive and not corrective action especially for the braking system. Do not save money as it may cause your life. Have a brake servicing immediately, replace with new brake fluid if you have not done so over a year of hard braking. Replace your brake cylinder and rotor and brake cable adjustment. If your brake pads are 80% wore off replace them.
There's no point in guessing. Part of a brake job is the inspection. And, lucky would have been getting caught. It would have made you a lot less likely to kill someone.
