Question:

What would be causing Windshield Wipers to miss the middle of the window?

We checked both the car manual and manual in store for our 1997 Honda CRV. Also, we matched up the old and new windshield wipers before installing the new ones. They are the same size. However, the new windshield wipers are missing a good 5-6 inches portion in the center of the window, starting from the bottom left of the left windshield wiper as it swipes up to the left. What would be causing this? They seem secure, the same size, but there is no blade that goes over this large portion. It doesn‘t make sense, since they are the right side.Help, it is driving us crazy since it is snowing and the windshield gets really dirty!

Answer:

Usually it's because an old wiper isn't flexing and doesn't conform to the windshield. Since you've put new wipers on, you might want to see if the springs in the wiper arms are loose. They pull the wiper against the glass, and the wipers won't work well if that spring is weak. You may want to try a different brand of replacement blade.
try switching the blades from one side to the other if the result is the same, change the wiper arms and the blades, just because they are new, dont mean that they are any good, take the old new blades back to the store for a refund and or replacement if the wiper arms are weak or bent beyond service limits, they need replacing, available at any reputable parts store or dealers parts dept.
Sounds like you got a bad pair of wipers from the beginning. Check the wiper blades for excess residue/snow and clean the blades. If the problem persists take the wipers back and get a new pair, Most wipers come with a warranty (check packaging) and you can return them for a new pair within the warranty period.
