I just bought an ‘07 camry and for some reason, the brakes feel a little weird to me. Spongy would be a good way to describe it. No lights come on, the car stops fine, but it seems like the brake pedal is soft. I read some q‘s about bleeding the brakes, and my issue isn‘t like that. What is normal? How far should the brake pedal be pressed before the car stops and/or the pedal stops? I can press my brake maybe 8-10 inches before the car comes to a complete stop.
Turn off the main and turn on the lowest valve in the system that goes to open air. You should turn off your water heater. At the pipe, if it is horizontal, you can bend it down to drain sitting water into a bucket.
Heat the copper pipe lightly meanwhile keep both ends open so the stem comes out, Then you can do the soldering.
The feel and travel of any break system is dependent upon its design. Depending upon what kind of break booster and cylinder they use compared to the size of the caliper assembly will determine how much travel is necessary to get breaking. The auto companies spend an enormous amount of time trying to match feel to the target audience. But that said, 8-10 inches is really excessive. Get them looked at soon.
If you have checked the brake fluid in the system. then the only thing i can suggest is check your pads.you could find that the pads are of sh*t quality and not gripping hence why you having to apply such heavy force to stop the vehicle pads can become glazed and it'll feel like there is nothing there his often happens after heavy breaking and the heat basically destroys the pads good luck.
Both really nice cars. Both good quality and reliability. Problem is this, when that Audi is out of warranty and something goes wrong, I hope you have saved for a rainy day. The Toyota is not cheap, but much cheaper then the Audi to maintain and repair. I have owned both and with my experience working on German cars and Japanese cars I would buy another Camry.
