Ehh, if you have to go for teleporting, then I would definitely go for just Earth to Hell/Hell to Earth, or it would be way too convenient. Then again, if some major action started, or he got kidnapped or something, he could just teleport away and be fine. I would recommend that he just carries loads and loads of tiny mirrors with him all the time.
I personally prefer the shield because, though the dual wielding does have a change of giving double damage, in prevents any kind of blocking, leaving you open to enemy attacks.
