Question:

Car Alarm & Power-lock installation in a Escort Wagon?

I'm not a huge car guy, but I'm trying to learn. So please don't just say have someone else do it because you will NOT get chosen for best answer.Anyway, I need to know some info about installing car alarms and power-locks into a 95 escort wagon. Can I install an alarm and then later down the road install power locks? Or do I have to do it all at once?Is there anything special about Escort Wagons that will make installing an alarm or power locks difficult or strange? Could I just look up videos on how to install these?Whats the most affordable alarm system out there? What does it come with? Needs to come with all the wires and parts for the job.I would also like to put a blinking light in the cabin to deter intruders. Is there anything I have to be concerned with? Air bags maybe? One last thing, what kind of tools will I need?? And maybe why I need them??

Answer:

First, you don't know what you are doing, so you should not be doing it. There is no second chance with electricity. Once you are in the circuit you are a FRY GUY You hire an electricianto look at this Mickey Mouse wiring. It is not legaland is not safe. You want another smoke detector? Then there are way more battery powered smoke detectors on the market than there are hard wired ones. Easy to put up and the battery lasts over a year. This is the easiest way to goand can be put anywhere. Whoever wired your house does not have a clue about AC power. The house is wired DC power style. Which is wrong. Lights work on AC or DC but that is all that is able to do that.
Yes, snowy and Icy in the mountains. I lived In Flagstaff, Az where highway 40 runs though from New Mexico. And it's snowy but they keep the roads fairly clear but still recommend studded tires, or chains. As soon as you get past Flagstaff closer to Nevada you should be fine. I'm not sure about driving though New Mexico though, never have. But if it is anything like Northern Arizona it will be snowy in the Winter. If you plan on taking that route anyways.
I agree with Dodie. Laughlin is a better place to go.
