Question:

Data cabling career- where do I start?

Hi all. I'm looking for some advice regarding starting a new career in data cabling. I read a little while ago about a skills shortage in network cabling and I was wondering about how I could gain these skills. I have no idea about which direction and what possible type of jobs I could get, so any suggestions or a nudge in the right direction is greatly appreciated. I've worked in telecoms previously and I loved the job, but I'm currently working as a software developer and hate being stuck behind a desk for 8 hours a day and I'm desperately looking for a fresh start. Thanks to all.

i learned it in a NET+ class and then honed it while working for small subcontractors and electricians. Not my preferred job but it's a valuable skill once learned. practice making your own cables using crimpers and the web's resources on tia/eia-568 A and B standards. learn to make loopback cables too. these are so useful. ethernet looback terminations are 13, 26, 47, 58. good luck
That's exceptional for knowledge, however you cannot transmit vigor over fibre optics (e.g. overhead cabling that offers 25,000 volts to trains, or vigor cables to illuminate indications and so forth). You nonetheless want copper for a few functions. Unless you are presenting we return to mechanical indications and operated by hand facets, and run most effective diesel and steam trains
