Question:

How can i reposition my windshield wipers?

i own a 2006 Chevy Equinox and the wipers dont fully sweep all the way, they stop about an inch too soon and reverse direction. how can i fix this?

Answer:

Pull the wiper off the spindle---wheel box and reposition on a different spline or undo the nut holding the wiper arm on the wheel box and move it to the correct position and retighten
Look at the base of the wiper blade arm where it contacts the gear from the wiper motor. Some have a clip that pulls out to remove the wiper arm or adjust it.
The 2006 Equinox does not have the clip that some of these people are talking about. I have not been in the business since 2005, but knowing most GM products I am guessing this one has a plastic cover over the nut that you need to remove to get the wipers off. First you can use a screwdriver to wedge the plastic cap off. Then you will need a RATCHET with either A 13 OR 14 MM. Remove the nut. Then normally you have to puch down a couple of times on the wiper arm to get them to release the arm. When it releases just slide it up to the position that will give you the proper sweep you are looking for and tighten them back on. You can repeat this until you get them where you want them. Good luck : )
