welll if your house is to code there should be a circuit breaker that you can flip that will only have thoes detectiors on itso flip the breaker and when your done flip it back on.
A baseball bat may be very handy in this kind of situation.
Cut the power to it and install a battery operated one. If that won't meet code, quit smoking.
i dont think the alarms deter the jackers. however, a security system that wont let the car be started without a key is a pretty good deterent. maybe some day in the future they will design an alarm that automatically calls the police if the car is tampered with.
