Question:

What do you think is the best insulation material? :O?

What do you think is the best insulation material? :O?

Answer:

it is normal in: Russia, former Sovietic puppets (Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Turkmenistan, Armenia), former Russian puppets in the east (Roma-nia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Poland)and other former puppets in other places (Mongolia, Cuba) I am not communist, I hate itbut BTW, I can say that the level of life of poor communist or poor former-communist countries is better that the level of life of the poor capitalist countries
They still exist, but many of the old soviet style apartment blocks in the major cities have been replaced or are being replaced by new modern apartment blocks. They can be quite expensive depending on the locationAlso there are pre soviet apartments wich are quite beautiful and are listed buildings
What is tyoe?? In any way the block of flats are very popular in Russia, Belarus, UkraineFirst of all, it provides living for many people cause the block of flats is about 300 apartments or so (I am talking about a 9-storey building)The second thing it is quite stable and can survive any hurricanes etc(luckily, we don't have such as in the USA)Why do you specify communistChina is still communist-socialist but American people love Chinese no matter what (outsourcing jobs etc.)Just interesting!
I can explain why this kind of questions might be somehow unintentionly offensive to some RussiansFirstly, it is absolutely clear that the very expression communist typeimplies the derogative meaning, isn't it? Secondly, the whole topic of communist housing construction is taken out of the historical contextAfter the WWII 90% of the housing was destroyed in the European part of the USSR (where the majority of the population lived and still living)The mass housing construction of the late 50s beginning of 60s solved the problem of communal flats in the main industrial citiesThose flats were given to people FREE OF CHARGEIt's true the quality of those buildings was not very high but anyway they were not worse than an average British house of that time let alone council flats or council estates, whatever you call themI can compare the quality all right nowI lived in one of those 5 storey houses during my childhood with the temperature outside down to -30 C in wintersNow for a number of years I've been living in British houses (Georgian, modern, Victorian) with the temperature outside rarely lower than -1 C in wintersAnd you know what? I want my warm communist flat back :).
A new insulation has been created from shredded blue jeansThis material has the same insulation properties as fiberglass insulation, but has no health risksIt is made from recycled blue jeans and is less flammable than common fiberglass insulation.
