How do i troubleshoot anti-lock brake systems for a 1988 Lincoln?

Answer:

Good luck, as it seems that the automobile manufactures have locked that information out from every day technicians. It's pretty pathetic that I can buy a washing machine and it comes with full wiring diagrams and timing sequences. But for $40,000 beans I get a manual that says take it to the dealer. In a world of techno. savvy. individuals, anti lock braking is no more complicated that a $100 toaster. As a mater of fact you can look back through the early systems as compared to now, and see that they were doing public testing with your life. So when them early G.M. Bosch systems failed. did the poor dead Persons relatives get any notice? Yea General Mess of Crapp I am speaking to YOU. Why don't you put up a real argument to the obvious public testing that you have been doing for about 20 years? If you have even got the fortitude to do this then post it I will find it. You pathetic excuse for an automobile manufacture!! Not Ford I just want to rant about G.M. Crapp.
Take it to a brake shop. ABS is tricky to work on and diagnose. I'm learning about ABS systems in Trade school right now, they are a simple opperating system, but very complicated to diagnose. Any good brake shop will be able to diagnose the problem for you. Could be a number of things causeing the problem too. I myself would just leave the ABS how it is and drive it without. If the ABS isn't working the brakes will still work as it would as if the ABS isn't on. there will be no affect to it aside from no ABS. I pulled the relay on my truck because of ABS problems swinging my rear end out. I'm not positive, but is that a RABS system (rear ABS). If it is, the RABS were useless on early designes for Ford.
